?? Why Prompt Registration Matters
? Insurance Coverage – Scouts and leaders are not recognized members until their applications are processed. Registration ensures:
- Primary Liability Insurance (SELA Council & Scouting America)
- Supplemental Accident Insurance
- Supplemental Automobile Insurance
This protects chartered partners from liability in the event of an accident or incident.
? Governing Policy
- Scouting America Registration Guidebook: “All youth and adults must be registered members of Scouting America before participating in the Scouting program.”
- Barriers to Abuse / Youth Protection Policy: “Every registered adult must complete Youth Protection Training and undergo a criminal background check prior to participation.”
?? Delays in registration place our youth, leaders, and partners at risk.
?? Adult Volunteer Registrations
All new leaders must have applications submitted so that:
- Background checks are completed
- Youth Protection Training (YPT) is verified
- We continue to provide the safe haven Scouting promises
?? Renewing Existing Scouts
Scouts who joined during last year’s fall Join Scouting Night (JSN) must renew immediately.
Without renewal:
- ? No insurance protection
- ? No advancement recorded (badges, ranks, awards)
- ? No participation in council events, camps, or activities

- Unit Leaders: Turn in new youth and adult applications within 24–48 hours of receipt.
