As some of you may have noticed, the following work has been on-going at camp:
(1) a group from Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Nicholls State University (overseen by Alex Barnes) began updating camp signage to the current blue and white Scouting America colors;
(2) Abry Brothers, Inc., the oldest New Orleans shoring and foundation repair company (owned by the family of Eagle Scouts Thomas and Patrick Abry of Troop 23), recently completed repairs to the Training Center’s substructure and contributed a significant portion of the labor cost toward the project; and,
(3) a prescribed burn contractor supervised by the Council’s Foresters completed the first prescribed burn at camp in several years and burned (or tried to burn) over 1,100 acres.
This Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m., the work will continue to improve the Climbing Tower, High and Low COPE Courses, and the Administration Building. If you can join, please come out to assist other volunteers who will be making Camp V-Bar a better place for our Scouts!
